steamy & emotional

"It all worked fine for me, but I knew it wasn't normal."
*sigh* One of my favorite lines I've read in forever. Maybe because it's the quiet, accepting way Ali says it, realizing she is different. Maybe it's the heartbreaking way she is outside, looking in, with her neighbors, the people on the street, her family. She is disconnected, yet when an elderly man dropped his groceries, she was the only one who helped him. Little did she know that one decision, that moment of kindness, the overwhelming need to make sure he wasn't as alone as she was, would change her life. Gabriel is struggling. He is pissed at the world, wallowing in his failures. He is trying to run the car repair shop that has been in his family for generations. His grandfather, who raised him, cared for him, is getting older and breaking body parts while being intimate with younger women. All Gabriel knows is the underlying rage and anger, the gut feeling that he can't trust himself, his desires.
Airicka has written a haunting tale that will leave you laughing out loud, wanting to sob and hold the characters close, take a cold shower because oh my greatness it will be steamy! This isn't a quick, spank bank story. It will draw you out, pull out secret desires you didn't realize were lurking under the surface. It's refreshing to have a story where one partner isn't sleeping with anyone/everyone. There isn't an obvious imbalance between Ali/Gabriel. They are two damaged, hurting people with a chance.

Steamy, Funny, Sweet

The Voyeur Next Door is... Something I can't even find words to describe. There are scenes in the book that can only be described with expletives! It's definitely a book that leaves you brain-numb from the shere awesomeness of it. That... and those steamy scenes that create the need for a cold shower! Airicka can definitely write some hot scenes! But there was also humor, a touch of sadness, & a bit of heart warming also. All of that coupled with the fact Airicka has a way of writing that really draws you into the story, makes for an amazing book. Being the first book by her I've read, I wasn't sure what to expect and was quite surprised! But definitely not disappointed.

This is an amazing read !! It is so hard to find a romance book that you can enjoy the steamy sex and laugh out loud humor all in one. When I started reading this story I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I went in with a totally different idea in my head about how this book would be and ended up getting my mind blown. This is my first read by Airicka Phoenix but it will not be my last. The writing in the story was perfect and the story-line flowed perfect. I will be recommending this book to friends.
