A book to treasure forever

Without a doubt this is my favorite book of 2013 and will be one of my favorite books of all time. �SR's writing style touches my heart and his words always make me feel like I am being enveloped in the warmest loving hug.

The final chapter in the Gabriel series is a beautifully crafted story of our beloved couple adjusting to life as a married couple. Life is not always perfect, and I admire SR for telling it as it is and not sugarcoating a popular romance. Life throws curve balls, and sadly not everything works out for everyone. �The theme that overrides in this story is that family, love and hope will help you get through anything.

I experienced so many emotions when reading. �I cheered for Professor Picton (my hero), I wanted to throttle Gabriel quite a few times and once or twice, Julia; I screamed at SR at one stage (you'll all know what I'm on about when you get to it); �I burst out laughing often. �The Snarky Narrator is in his best form yet (but please don't tell him that as it will go to his head and he'll become even more impossible). �And our dear Professor seems to have adopted some of SR's nerdish tendencies. �There's even a�Hitchcockesque�reference to SR in passing.

Many story lines that fans often asked about about were resolved in this book. Whilst there was a healthy serving of karma dished out to some, the future of others was left open and I hope that in time there will be a future novella or outtakes that will continue their story.

Congratulations and thank you SR. �This final book in the series will make your fans proud and happy .... in particular this one.

What a GREAT FINAL BOOK!!! SR Really Gave Readers Closure

This book takes place a few months after Gabriel’s and Julianne’s wedding. Although they are in newlywed bliss, some outside lingering issues still threaten them and their relationship. Julianne is dealing with the pressures of being a graduate student pursuing her PhD at Harvard. She is still plagued by rumors about her affair with her professor and is more determined than ever to prove herself to her peers in the academic community.

I will be honest – I had a hard time with Julia in the first two books. In those, I felt she was too timid and doe-eyed. Even by the end of Gabriel’s Rapture, I never felt like she changed or grew. She gained more confidence in herself because of Gabriel, but she was still so unsure of herself. However, in this book, I finally saw her for the woman she had become. She confronted Gabriel when she disagreed with him and she stood up for herself numerous times. Although she is still a bit insecure and docile, I felt like she finally grew a backbone. This is the first time in the series that I actually really grew to like her as a character.

Meanwhile, Gabriel is battling his warring demons from his past. He is faced to confront the person he used to be and the things he did in his past that he still has yet to forgive himself for. Professor Gabriel Emerson. Oh how I love a man who is an intellectual, demanding, controlling, wears argyle and Clark Kent glasses. What I like about Gabriel is that he isn’t perfect, yet he has changed. When I met him in Gabriel’s Inferno, he was arrogant, harsh and intimidating. Nothing really drew me to him at first. However, as he started exploring his attraction to his student, Julianne, who he has a shared past with, Gabriel started becoming the man Julianne saw.

Even after learning his past in the first two book and seeing how far he has come because of Julianne, he still has demons. It’s because of this that I am able to really love the Professor. I like that the author didn’t make him perfect and didn’t immediately erase all his flaws. I like that Gabriel is a work in progress. It made him much more endearing and made his love for his wife that much more powerful. Despite everything, it is very clear that Gabriel, absolutely and undisputedly loves and adores his wife, his Beatrice, to his Dante.

Sylvain did a fabulous job of wrapping up each and every storyline in this book. In addition to telling Gabriel and Julianne’s story, I was delighted to hear about what happened to all the secondary characters from the previous two books. You will get to see whether Paul is able to move on from Julia’s unreturned affection, whether the evil Christa Peterson really got what was coming to her, what happened to Simon and Natalie and even some closure on Paulina. I loved this! I loved that Sylvain really put this story and characters to rest.

As a quick side note, I do want to mention that this book had a bit of snarkiness to it, which was a pleasant surprise. Since it is told in third person perspective, the narrator makes some snarky, yet humorous observations parenthetically. These brief little comments added a touch of humor to sometimes an all too serious plot line and I enjoyed every moment of them.

If you enjoyed the first two books, you will most definitely will want to read this book. The Professor and his Beatrice is most definitely worth revisiting.

It was okay...

I was able to read an early copy of this and although I devoured it, I found myself wanting. Reynard definitely wrote this with the fans in mind, but there was an element missing that we read in the two prior books. Sometimes, we have to allow our imaginations to take control of the story from when it originally ends.

There were some dangling threads and I'm very sure I know exactly who is in the new book. It's pretty easy to pick out.

A fun book, but definitely not of the caliber of the first two.

The original sourcebook for Ministry of Special Cases

Bristow's work is an excellent, balanced and well-sourced academic resource that does not shy away from exploring the dark underbelly of Jewish life in the 20th century. Jewish involvement in prostitution (and other elements of organized crime) is a dicey subject historically, as it either tends to be overstated by people with anti-Jewish agendas, or underplayed or ignored by members of the Jewish establishment lest it appear embarrassing or, worse yet, give ammunition to antisemites. However Bristow capably demonstrates that not only was Jewish involvement in prostitution and trafficking not as predominant as antisemites sometimes claimed, but also documents the many Jewish personalities and organizations who devoted themselves to fighting the pimps and madams, particularly those trafficking in Jewish women.

Without polemics, Bristow helps shed light on how the depressed economic conditions of Jewish life often contributed to involvement in organized crime and specifically prostitution (one of the few ways for women to get large amounts of money and/or passage from Eastern Europe), and also shows how Jewish migration patterns became intertwined with trafficking routes.

Lastly, for afficionados of good gangster stories, Bristow also provides quite a few anectdotes which, despite the book's dry tome, still prove fascinating stuff. Read about Jewish gangsters from Warsaw to New York to Constantinople, as well as such shadowy groups as the Zwi Migdal Society of Buenos Aires, now immortalized in Nathan Englander's novel Ministry of Special Cases. Zwi Migdal was one of the most colorful "second worlds" within Jewish society, known for creating their own synagogue and cemetery after they were spurned by their socially-conscious cousins.

Whether you're interested in learning more about the seamier side Jewish history or simply a fan of true crime, Bristow's book is worth the read. Don't be too put off by its academic tone or the page length- take a look!

"Prostitution and Prejudice" is a comprehensive view of a very unpleasant subject: the vast Jewish sex slave trade of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries - a practice that continues today. Bristow quotes damning statistics of the Jewish involvement in this evil, statistics from the various European police departments of the day. A famous trial held at Czernowitz consisted of twenty or more defendants - all Jewish.Today, the same evil exists in Eastern Europe following the collapse of the Soviet Union. Once again, the sex slave traders, many of them women, are virtually all Jewish - and the chief destination of the trade is the brothels in Israel.

The present scope of the problem is, of course, outside the scope of Bristow's study. But he makes very clear that the so-called "white slave trade" was one of the chief causes of the anti-semites in the nineteenth century - and there was vast ecidence to support the charge. In Czarist Russia, for instance, where prostitution was legal, out of some 280 odd liscenced houses of prostitution, 230 were run by Jewish madams. Perhaps this unpleasant reality is attributable to the Talmudic injunction that all "non-Jewesses are whores". It is similar to Israel today where the Zionist state has an extremely strict sex harassment law for bothering Jewesses but no concern at all for Ukrainians and Russians kidnapped into Tel Aviv brothels.

Edward Bristow's book is informative reading describing the odious practice of a Chosen People who can do no wrong.Sex slavery is only one of those practices. Tax farming by commission, stealing Arab Palestine and Communizing Russia are others.

�Barbara Ann Mojica and Victor Ramon Mojica have done a wonderful job with creating their book. I think I enjoyed it just as much as my children. This is an excellent and unique way to teach children about history and historical places in the United States. There is so much information included in this book, but it is shared in a way that is easy to read and understand, and not be overwhelming for children. What a wonderful reading experience: Little Miss History Travels to MOUNT RUSHMORE. A fun children's book, which educates children about American history.

I was always fascinated by children's books that help children to develop a knowledge of American history. Little Miss History Travels to MOUNT RUSHMORE is written in a very creative way by historian Barbara A. Mojica. The author wisely introduces children to the historical facts, value, and meaning of American historical landmarks. Easy to follow, this delightful children's book captured my attention from the first page. Informative, uplifting, and amusing, Little Miss History took me for a wonderful trip to Mount Rushmore, where she introduced me to a piece of American history.

Reading this book, I felt as if I were on top of Mount Rushmore observing the history unfolding in front of my eyes. I learned about two of the greatest landmarks, Six Grandfathers and Chief Crazy Horse Memorial. The story itself is exciting, engaging, and very educational. It will absorb children with many historical facts about the Mount Rushmore National Memorial and what this monument means for Americans. The illustrations in this book are charming and entertaining. They perfectly reflect each episode and fact.

While reading this book, children will have fun traveling with Little Miss History to the Black Hills of South Dakota. They will also have a wonderful learning experience. When I turned the last page of this fun children's book, I felt as if Little Miss History had become my friend. Entertaining, exciting, and very outgoing, she teaches children about the history of our nation.

I would highly recommend this book for teachers and parents who would like to learn history with their children while having fun. Great children's book for any age! I can hardly wait for the next book, The Statue of Liberty.

Books That Sow: Strength, Character & Diversity, DBA

Wow, and Wow again! Writing this book was a great idea. I was taken away with "History" as she indeed took me "somewhere."

Teachers using thematic lessons as they teach children short history lessons will certainly appreciate a book like this. We all know "tidbits' about Mount Rushmore, but to learn about the intricate particulars simply amazed me.

I love the fine points of this story. A detail within this book teaches not only children, but adults alike. Each person may learn one or two added facts they may not have known until reading Mojica's book.

It is my understanding that this is a book the first in a series, so I can't wait to read the others.

I'd be remiss not to mention the illustrations. What vivid and "on the point" illustrations tailored so appropriately. Some illustrations even made me chuckle as I was pulled into the story more.

If you are looking for supplemental history materials to help you explain lessons in a fun, accurate way, this is the book for you. Take a closer look at this book yourself, and share it with all the educators in your circle.

New way to teach history in a fun and factual, informative way that anyone can learn

I have to be honest and say that history was never one of my favorite subjects in school but through little miss history and the incredible illustrations, I actually was interested in wanting to know more. If history books were all done this way with cool illustrations and fun ways of telling a story, using actual facts as told in the book then my love of history would have increased a million times over. I think this book is truly very unique and one of its kind that can help parents and teachers teach kids how to appreciate our great country by sharing facts and cool illustrations that bring the story to life. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to teach their kids about history or well known monuments as in this case Mount Rushmore! I can't wait to see where Little Miss History takes us next ....
